Released on: 03/02/2023 by Hi-Tide Recordings Reviewed by: Terry Mead 07/02/2023 Beachcombers are a recently formed duet band from the USA with members from The Swingin’ Palms (Graham Tichy) and Black Flamingos (Vincent Minervino).
Who’s in the band: Graham Tichy- Guitar Vincent Minervino- Drums Reviewing the Single: Barracuda- Not to be confused with Hearts instrumental of the same name, this is a completely new self-penned instrumental. Ride the surf and watch out: the Barracuda’s here! There’s a couple of nice riffs playing off each other to a great drum beat and a neat mid-way guitar break. The sound compares with the vintage era of 1960s instrumental surf music.
All in all, it’s a must for the instrumental fans of the bygone era reaching out to Santo and Johnny & Link Wray fans. This tune has created that era in fine presence, capturing all the right notes to take you back to the Californian beaches and Hawaiian sounds that made those 1960s hot summer’s days a teenage thrill.
