So folks we have a big one here, Two great rockin names of the scene from two sides of the ocean , the meeting of this true uniqueness, the USA meets the UK. from the pioneer to tribute of the higher end, most famous names , we got the king himself Elvis, with his many hits records and screen, which we know tonnes about, meeting with from over the coast as such from Essex, UK. The very talented lead man Mr Mark Keeley, (several bands incorporated including Good Rockin Tonight ) so as of the success of Good Rockin Tonight along with his solo career, both takin a lot of work going from places to place and playing at more venues than you can probably count. Be it a rockin venue to a private party. well basically anywhere, doing rock n roll, and rockabilly of all descriptions, including his personal tribute shaky (Fakin Stevens), if it’ll get you up dancing he will be performing it. And all this work done in his home studio, just like this little beauty here of him duetting with Elvis , oh boy are you in for a treat u,huh,
To the album then, well it is as it says on the cover, Elvis and Mark Keeley duets. a tribute to the king. if you please with the legend of Elvis himself… a sing along from greatest hits to somewhat unheard of, starting with.
1 HIS LATEST FLAME a main hit starting with mark singing and a sharp take from Elvis. Turning it into a great duet
2 IS IT SO STRANGE, an early feel of yet another rarity, superb slower and fantastic sections and harmonizing.
3 TREAT ME NICE, alternative version I believe from the film section. A fine take of a brilliant, rare track alternating between the two voices
4 JUDY, another rare one upbeat bright feel and great vocals
5, COULD I FALL IN LOVE, from the motion picture Double Trouble. great harmonizing once again
6 HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELEY, a great take of another track, not heard a lot nowadays yet brilliant classic, with sections between them with very little difference.
7 I MISS YOU, a latter rare track with a slower ambiance, tremendous harmonizing once again
8 BRITCHES, where you can hardly tell the changes , a very rare track indeed great to hear it,this was removed from the film Flaming Star.
9 BABY I DON’T CARE, a great track, Elvis starts just like the original with added alternate verse.
10 (SUCH AN) EASY QUESTION. recorded by Elvis Presley in 1962 for the Potluck with Elvis album. It was released as a single in 1965. Mark and Elvis sounding well together.
11 NEVER ENDING, well hopefully not , at least for a long time, super rare record just like listening to the original, hard to tell some vocal changes.
12 JAILHOUSE ROCK… well an out and out hit of hits, revamp in to another duet, brilliant take on the original film version, singing alternate verses, ending with a perfect up tempo dancing vibe just like the original rocker
13 RETURN TO SENDER. as it was originally and still classic. I can fell a sing along whilst strolling. Made into a great duet.
14 JUST TELL HIM JIM SAID HELLO, like the original early 60 great apart from the pitch ,they would be no difference between the vocals.
15 THAT’S WHEN YOUR HEARTACHE BEGINS, a true gut wrencher. superior sounds, most of this song its difficult to tell if its Mark or Elvis, the classic speech in the middle, with Spanish guitar, taken line by line by them both to an ensemble finish.
16 SOMETHING BLUE a fantastic harmonized, slow number of sweet emotions, great sound
17 MESS OF BLUES, Keeley starts, and Elvis takes over and so on. Great emotional track.
18 SUSPICION. a super record with great sounds, these two crack it dual section and fantastic harmony on chorus sections
Summary
um well a bit speech less to be honest, what an absolute tremendous take on the king, if you wonder (not of you)) if a duet with an absolute legend would work, you’ll have to be legendary yourself to do it with a superb voice, which is what has been done here on this masterpiece, I didn’t think it would work, and believe me it did, the wonderful sound of Mark takes on the predecessor and his songs for an ultimate mix of the very rare to his greatest commercial tracks all in 1 album. This is sure to have you singing away, remembering the originals and dancing the day and night.
Everyone in every club could play this and I think majority will, I will be playing it and mixing it in a lot. Thank you thank you very much, you have been a wonderful audience.
