Track by track Review:
I've Got a Feelin'- So, we start off with this ditty quirky subdued start before the brass section kicks in. Gina gives a rather bluesy vocal role with deep sounding notes.
Shake Rattle and Roll- Her fathers signature tune originally recorded by Joe Turner done in true Haley style with overtones from the Jive Aces.
'Til the Well Runs Dry- Wynona Carr’s prestige tune and Gina has revitalised it to a very high degree keeping to the perfect beat.
Mama, He Treats Your Daughter Mean- Ruth Browns classic next up and again a worthy cover version with the musical accompliment from the Jive Aces adding the magic touch.
Them There Eyes- Made famous by Billie Holiday in 1939 and notably sung by Varetta Dillard. Ian Clarkson duets with Gina on this one giving the tune another aspect, there’s a neat piano break midway through and the beat makes it a great jiver.
I've Got a Little Boy-What a cracker straight from the starting blocks its one of those tracks you want to fling yourself round the dancefloor to not stopping for a breather.
Teardrops from My Eyes- Another Ruth Brown classic all the way back from 1950. Justification for choosing this track was a master stroke Gina & the Aces have revived it to a tee.
See See Rider- Lavern Bakers number is revived next and revived it certainly is with Gina pushing the boundaries on vocals just dig that crazy sax break.
As Long As I'm Moving- Triple play Ruth Brown tracks covered on this album. Another gem from Gina & The Aces played with the grace of the Queen of R&B, contains a super musical break with guitar starting off before the sax comes in.
Saved- Energetic fast paced number in line with Lavern Bakers original played at the same tempo.
You've Got What It Takes- Ian Clarkson takes over on vocals with Gina combining the role, the pair work well together with some harmonising thrown in and yes that crazy sax is back for an elongated ending.
Wild Wild Young Men- Not wild woman this time but young men, maybe tamer than the woman but this track isn’t, jazzed up and on fire.
Won't Be Long- We end with a tribute to Aretha Franklin with souled up vocals from Gina and Roy J. Martin on piano, it’s a powerful adaption with more of a faster tempo.
So, to Summarise Gina has a fantastic R&B voice and such a talent .The choice of material picked for this album has certainly favoured the combination of Gina singing with The Jive Aces playing, hopefully this is the start of a bond with more albums being produced, unfortunately not at Sugar Rays in my hometown as it no longer exists but maybe a future album at the Sun Studios?
Highly recommend a listen!

Gina’s Bio:
Linda Georgina (Gina) Haley born April 23, 1975, in Mexico is an American singer-songwriter.
Haley is the youngest child of rock and roll pioneer Bill Haley from his marriage to his last wife, Martha; she grew up in Harlingen, and she was only five years old when her father died in 1981. At 18 years old, she left home and set out to find her musical identity, which landed her in Houston.
She is classically trained on piano and a self-taught guitarist and songwriter. During the mid-1990s, she left Houston and moved to Los Angeles.
She managed to catch the eye of producer Michael Sembello, and worked with him writing, recording, and arranging tracks which appeared in television and movies. Haley also worked with songwriter Richard Rudolph and published songs through Music Sales Group. Her first self-titled album was released in Japan in 1999 Heat Wave.
During these years in Los Angeles, she sang with the world music group called The Bridge, whose members included Edu Falcao, Daniel Jobim, Paulinho Da Costa, Vincent Colaiuta, and Michael Sembello. Haley later formed her own group, the Gina Haley Band, and continues to work in the musical field in her home state of Texas.
On July 6, 2005, she performed with her father's old band, The Comets at the Viper Room in West Hollywood as part of 50th-anniversary celebrations of her father's famous song "Rock Around the Clock" reaching the number-one position on American sales charts, as well as what would have been Bill Haley's 80th birthday.
In June 2008, the Gina Haley Band performed at the Bill Haley induction to the South Texas Music Walk of Fame in Corpus Christi, Texas.
