Very interesting single which combines the lost acetate recording of ‘Jake the Snake’ by Chuck “Frets” Fayne with ‘Tokyo Stomp’. The later was released on the Crest label in 1961 and appeared on several compilations, but poor Jake was still stuck in his box since the recording session in 1960.
‘Jake The Snake’ tell us the story of the Rock’n’roll snake and his great great rock’n’roll band. His bites aren't deadly, but don't get too close...
‘Tokyo Stomp’ is a superb instrumental piece that alternates an oriental sounding piano line with raw and wild saxophone and guitar blast.
The story of Chuck Fayne, told on the cover, is another good reason to get this single. A mysterious tale involving magicians and mysticism. Perhaps a side effect of the snake bite?
All this would make an excellent thriller!
