Hot rod Frankie are a wild tribal Viking influenced Swedish psychobilly side project by members of Ultima Thule. Frankie released their brill debut album in August 2006 entitled, “My Father Was a Madman. The album's songs are only about Frankenstein's monster.
The band self-genre titles then themselves as Viking rock, or Viking -Billy if you please, essence of ye ole traditional pagan Norse, and very interesting I may add, as their influences and inputs derive from rockabilly obvious tradition of roots rockabilly having a unique touch of blues country. with ‘Ois’ and yells as in chants giving their individual own link to genre.
So on to the sounds of the Vikings of rockabilly... heave ahoy
Monster lullaby,
Harmonica slow paced blues western intro, calling the spirit to a heavy beating of drums, bass and guitar. Brill start. Enter the guitar on power chords. Vocals are powerful with both added haunt and gravely roars. the bass marches on carrying this ensemble, hearing the harmonica Howlin through as its own solos, a slowed down fading gradually slowing outro, a very power full natured aerated sound, visualize the moon on the river with the Viking ship and these heroic rockin lads holding the ground...yeeeeaaa Lets power stroll to the next
The junkyard jive,
Another powerful start of synced drum, guitar chords and Bass. emphasized notes, then bang in to faster paced, thumping rhythm, electrifying guitar into vocal, raw and untamed, great catchy short guitar solo. picking up on sounds, frightful delightful werewolf howling Section, before track goes back full pelt. Then your down for a rather quick paced outro to finish.
Summary
Ahoy there captain Frankie in your devil hotrod, this is hard core and mad track release. It may not be for everybody on the Rockin scene, however definitely on alternate rockin scenes and i know of a weekender or two that may take it up
