This eerie intro creeps in like a horror-movie mantra. Wednesday’s distorted whisper loops over an eerie soundscape, setting the tone for the grotesque carnival ahead. It’s like breaking into a haunted sanitarium where the stereo’s still ticking. You’ve been warned!

Decease and Desist

And here, chaos erupts—industrial-tinged, Rob Zombie–style sleaze meets loud, palm-muted chugs. It stomps and rumbles, with muscular riffing and venom-spiked energy that feels like a chainsaw funeral procession. A particular transgressive voice returns to the

When the Devil Commands

A Satanic anthem with a brutal hook—chugging guitars, arena drums, and call-and-response choruses that tempt a headbang-sing along. It’s a memory-burner of ’80s blasphemy, delivered with tongue-in-cheek mischief. Again, industrial sounds reminded me of White Zombie.

Rotting Away

Anglo goth-punk swagger kicks in here. The energy recalls past bangers yet adds fresh venom— “a triumphant hate anthem,” as one critic puts it. Here, decay meets defiance in gnarly riffs.  The album advances in a firm consistent path.

No Apologies (feat. Taime Downe)

Glam-sleaze rock front and center. Taime Downe injects snarling, Lipstick-smudged attitude into a fast-romping exorcism of toxic demons. It’s infectiously fun, a horror playground with gang vocals and hair-metal grit. Glamcore? Once again Wednesday 13 sounds like an Anti Hero!

Decapitation

Ridiculously catchy—and gloriously gruesome. A mini-murder-ballad with surfy charm, handclaps, and theatrical flair. It’s absurd, fun, and hooks hard: prom-night violence with a sock-hop twist. Lyrics are not for the easily offended.

In Misery
A goth-tinged, mid-tempo headbanger that lurches with brooding metallic weight. It’s a twisted love-hateful confession—“staying with someone who makes you feel cursed” … set to a monster stomp.  Love Hurts…
Blood Storm

A relentless, apocalyptic thrash twist. Fist-pumping riffing drenched in gruesome imagery. It’s another Fang Bang-reminiscent banger where Wednesday unleashes gutter-level gore with swagger.  Probably the best track here!! Fast, aggressive and direct!

Xanaxtasy

Not a new song for some, Wednesday embraces drug-addled temptation with a Sunset Boulevard pulse and swaggering guitars. It’s unsettling yet irresistible—120% glam horror with words reminiscent of Social Distortion.

I Hurt You

A rare pause—a poison-love confession drenched in gloom. A thoughtful, twisted romantic dip in the carnage, with spectral undertones that linger in your conscience long after the riff dies. Intense yet not as heavy as most of his material. You’ll sing along this highlight.

My Funeral

Wears its gothic title well—a slow-burn rocker with dramatic flair, clean backing vocals, and a macabre atmosphere that feels funereal yet melodramatically addictive. Wednesday plays the Duke of Spook flawlessly.  Might sound forced at moments but here you can enjoy better the vocals.

Sick and Violent

Whoa! Here, Wednesday goes out swinging—a street-punk finale with hand-claps, gang vocals, and gleeful nastiness. It’s raucous, unfiltered, and the perfect last word for this horror-rock spree. This sounds more like his old band “Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13” the best rock n roll name ever!

Summary

Mid Death Crisis is a non-stop horror-rock thrill ride—sleazy, fast-paced, and monstrously fun. Produced by glam-metal wizard Alex Kane, it blends industrial menace, goth soul, and arena hooks with theatrical camp and metallic grit. Wednesday 13 channels his inner showman, evolving his signature horror-punk sound while keeping the flames of glam, sleaze, and darkness burning bright.  Might sound weird but I found it a little “conservative”’for his previous standards.

Recommendation

Hell yes. If you crave music that’s unapologetically bold, tongue-in-cheek gruesome, and a call to the mosh-pit dead, this album demands a spin—preferably loud, with eyeliner, and in bad lighting.

Wednesday 13 (Joseph Michael Poole; b. 12 August 1976, Landis, NC) is an American horror-punk/glam metal frontman, known for theatrical flair as much as riffs. Formerly of Murderdolls and Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13, his work is steeped in horror, camp, and rock-‘n’-roll spirit.  He continues to solo under his namesake, crafting albums that oscillate between gore-soaked horror and tongue-in-cheek tongue-flicking metal.

1. There’s No Such Thing As Monsters

Este inquietante intro se arrastra como un mantra de película de terror. El susurro distorsionado de Wednesday se repite sobre un paisaje sonoro macabro, marcando el tono del grotesco carnaval que se viene. Es como irrumpir en un sanatorio embrujado donde aún suena el estéreo. ¡Advertidos están!

2. Decease and Desist

Aquí estalla el caos: un sleaze con tintes industriales al estilo Rob Zombie se mezcla con riffs palm-muted ensordecedores. Patea y retumba con guitarras musculosas y una energía venenosa que parece una procesión fúnebre con motosierra. Una voz particularmente transgresora regresa a escena.

3. When the Devil Commands

Un himno satánico con un gancho brutal: guitarras entrecortadas, baterías de estadio y coros de llamado y respuesta que invitan a cabecear y corear. Evoca la blasfemia ochentera, entregada con picardía. Los sonidos industriales recuerdan otra vez a White Zombie.

4. Rotting Away

Aquí entra con un aire gótico-punk británico. La energía recuerda a viejos clásicos, pero con un veneno renovado: “un himno triunfante de odio”, como dijo un crítico. Decadencia y desafío se cruzan en riffs retorcidos. El disco avanza firme y consistente.

5. No Apologies (feat. Taime Downe)

Rock glam-sleaze en todo su esplendor. Taime Downe inyecta una actitud rasposa y llena de lápiz labial corrido en un exorcismo frenético de demonios tóxicos. Es divertidamente infecciosa, un parque de diversiones de horror con coros grupales y crudeza hair-metal. ¿Glamcore? Una vez más, Wednesday 13 suena como un Anti Héroe.

6. Decapitation

Ridículamente pegajosa… y gloriosamente macabra. Una mini-murder-ballad con encanto surf, palmadas y teatralidad. Es absurda, divertida y engancha duro: violencia en la noche de graduación con un giro sock-hop. Las letras no son para los fácilmente ofendidos.

7. In Misery

Un medio tiempo con tintes góticos y peso metálico sombrío. Es una confesión torcida de amor/odio —“quedarse con alguien que te hace sentir maldito”… todo sobre un paso de monstruo. Love Hurts…

8. Blood Storm

Un giro thrash apocalíptico e implacable. Riffs que hacen alzar el puño, empapados en imágenes sangrientas. Otro banger que recuerda a Fang Bang, donde Wednesday desata gore de alcantarilla con estilo. ¡Probablemente la mejor canción aquí! Rápida, agresiva y directa.

9. Xanaxtasy

No es nueva para algunos, pero aquí Wednesday abraza la tentación drogada con un pulso de Sunset Boulevard y guitarras desafiantes. Es perturbadora pero irresistible—120% glam horror con letras que recuerdan a Social Distortion.

10. I Hurt You

Una rara pausa: confesión de amor envenenado bañada en melancolía. Una zambullida romántica torcida en medio de la carnicería, con tonos espectrales que persisten en tu conciencia mucho después de que muere el riff. Intensa, aunque no tan pesada como el resto. Canto obligatorio en este punto alto del álbum.

11. My Funeral

Hace honor a su título gótico—un rock de combustión lenta con dramatismo, coros limpios y atmósfera fúnebre pero adictivamente melodramática. Wednesday interpreta al “Duke of Spook” a la perfección. Puede sonar forzada en momentos, pero aquí se disfruta mejor la voz.

12. Sick and Violent

¡Boom! Wednesday se despide a lo grande: un cierre street-punk con palmadas, coros de pandilla y un desenfreno alegremente desagradable. Ruidosa, sin filtro, y la palabra final perfecta para esta orgía horror-rock. Suena más a su vieja banda Frankenstein Drag Queens From Planet 13, ¡el mejor nombre de rock n’ roll de la historia!

Resumen

Mid Death Crisis es un paseo sin frenos de horror-rock: sucio, acelerado y monstruosamente divertido. Producido por el mago glam-metal Alex Kane, mezcla amenaza industrial, alma gótica y ganchos de estadio con teatralidad camp y crudeza metálica. Wednesday 13 canaliza a su showman interno, evolucionando su sonido horror-punk característico mientras mantiene vivas las llamas del glam, el sleaze y la oscuridad. Puede sonar raro, pero lo encontré un poco “conservador” para sus estándares previos.

Recomendación

¡Claro que sí! Si buscás música descaradamente atrevida, grotesca en tono irónico, y un llamado a los muertos del mosh pit, este álbum exige que lo escuchés—de preferencia a todo volumen, con delineador, y en mala iluminación.
