Alan Powers & the Aftershocks started as a band in November 2022. They originally come from Waterford City, Ireland

The band members are:

Alan Power: acoustic and vocals

Jimmy “Jim Law” Shields: Electric Guitar

Cian Dalton: Upright Bass

Liam Ascott: Drums

The band is currently performing at a number of venues in Europe. They have released this 7-track EP, which will be followed by a full album planned for next year. Except for 2 covers, all other tracks were composed by the band.

‘Morning Blues’ is a nice haunting instrumental with whistle that takes you right in the middle of a Sergio Leone movie. The kind you morning blues you may get if you spent your night sleeping in the Mojave desert with a sombrero instead of a pillow.

‘This Train’ is the classic gospel, originally recorded by Sister Rosetta Tharpe, a major influence for numerous rockers, including Elvis and Carl. Alan and his band deliver a vibrant Rockabilly version. And while we're in a gospel mood, why not continue with the Saints? Once again, Alan and the boys deliver an exciting rendition with vocals reminiscent of Elvis (especially the fantastic version he recorded with a few pals during the famous ‘Million Dollar Quartet’ session).

‘Miles from Me’ is a nice ballad where Alan gives free rein to his crooner side.

‘What Goes Around’ is a bluesy  tune, with good rockin’ guitar breaks. Nice Elvis style vocal by Alan.

The ‘Song With No Name’ take us back into the desert for another whistling song. Imagine a lone rider crossing death valley. He’s probably very thirsty but the little touch of surf guitar at the end of the song seems to suggest that the ocean is not so far away!

‘You Don’t Know (What I like)’ is a nice rockabilly track with typical Scotty Moore guitar riff, good Elvis style vocals and some haunting chords and growls that gives it a menacing feel.
