The Muskat’s have been out and about since 1993 and have covered a wide variety of events since then. Tours and releases for numerous labels including Fury, El Toro and Nervous and now on the Great El Dandy label. They have played at the worlds famous Viva Las Vegas, Walldorf weekender Germany, Rock n Roll Jamboree, Finland, so they have travelled and demonstrated the power of the trio’s sound worldwide. The guys have had the same line up since 1993 and remain as close today. Keeping to a sound they have made their own. Now we have a new release that can only show what talents this three guys bring to our wonderful Genres we adore. So lets take a listen to the Muskat’s

Tracks review

I GOT IT (Penniman)

Far from the original of the 1958 release in the U.S.A on Speciality records. The trio have slowed it right down to a mid-paced bluesy vipe with harmonica taking its part. Its really works well and is very enjoyable to hear. With a thirty second rockabilly intro that leads to a great vocal. Brilliant track that has been thought out and delivered superbly. Little Richards version hit the record stores in 1959 in the U.K. and 1960 for the rest of the world.

DOG WITH A BONE (Nemeth)

With its classic rockabilly intro from the bass, which I also think is the countdown to the track. This self-penned track is just a great way of showing the writing talents of the lead singer. This the first of two tracks written by Steve on this four track E.P.  great lyrics backed with some nice drum, Guitar playing. Once you have played this track you will put it on repeat. Very catchy indeed.

REAL BOSS (Nemeth)

Awesome intro with some guitar licks throwing a moody intro. Fast paced rocker from the trio. You can hear influences from across the genres of artist within the track and music. From Eddie to Curtis. This track is a great bopper and sure will be played by the great D,J s.

HERE, THERE, EVERYWHERE (Pate)

What a wonderful track to complete this Great release. I don’t believe I have heard a version of this song apart from the original which was released on the Gulfstream label back in 2021 to which this track was the B-side. A one hit wonder back in its day is now a smash for the 2024/5 audience. Stunningly re-done with a high-octane music and fast lyrics. Surblime musical braek from the guitar. Another dance floor filler. And at only 1.44 minutes long it packs over 50 years into it. Great cover boys and thank you for it.

Summary

What a release. Brilliant self penned masters and two fantastic re worked classic. Making a truly exceptional release from both the Muskat’s and the El Dandy label. Im sure they will be getting back together soon for more cracking releases.
