Finnish rockers The Barnshakers are well known for rippin’ it up at European festivals and their singer Vesa Haaja joins forces here with top Spanish Rockabilly bassist Carlos Slap to sing two of Carlos original compositions.

Track by Track:

A: IT IS TRUE?  Twin harmony guitars launch this slice of whimsical western swing which is a perfect showcase for Vesa’s relaxed vocal delivery. A couple of nice pedal steel and guitar  solos add to the fun as Carlos’ walking  bass line keeps things tight and dance floor friendly.

B: WHO’S GONNA...  Carlos slaps (well the clues in the name innit) a slick intro on the upright bass and we are served a minor key country western delicacy with occasional chromatic guitar runs adding a pinch of gypsy jazz to the recipe.  Once again Vesa Haaja delivers a great vocal whilst the guitar and pedal steel players both sound like they are having a blast. Nice.

From reading the blurb that came with the tracks I learned that this is one of a series of 7 inch singles on El Toro records (I just looked on the website , there are at least 6 more !) where Carlos invites artists to sing his compostions backed by an excellent band of Madrids finest. If this one is anything to go by, the others will be excellent too.
